"She taught me the one thing I needed to know.  How to fix myself...." 

As a child I was never very active.  Fast forward to me becoming active as an adult.  I had a new interest in everything… yoga, crossfit, weightlifting, running and eventually triathlon however I did not understand basic body mechanics.  I eventually wound up injuring myself.  This set me off on a never ending journey to find people to “fix” me and once they did I would just reinjure myself.  It was also mentally challenging and many days I was depressed.  

I finally got an MRI.  I had herniated a disc and bulging discs.  My body was trying to tell me something.  I needed to stop and listen.  

One day my RMT told me one of her clients had great success with Pilates.  After hearing her story I took the name of the instructor and started sessions with her.  It was at that point that I knew I needed to stop what I was doing and focus on moving my body, the right way.  I was tired of physically struggling with simple daily things like getting out of bed or not being able to empty the dishwasher without supporting my weight on the counter.  

I was introduced to the basics, I thought to myself there is no way these small movements were going to make a difference but kept going.  I had run out of options.  The more I went the more I realized it was helping, the movements, although small were difficult but I could tell that I needed them.  

A lightbulb went off.

It was at that point that I realized I needed to take things to the next level, and when I found Jocelyne.  She taught me the one thing I needed to know.  How to fix myself.  I had spent years finding people to fix me, not realizing the importance of being given the tools to learn how to do this myself.  I started taking private sessions as well as attending her group classes.  Pilates is a priority for me now, it is allowing me to rebuild my life.  With Jocelyne’s guidance she teaches me how important muscle awareness is, as a triathlete I need to understand what my body is doing and notice when I need to adjust things.  As I find new challenges I discuss them with Jocelyne and during our private sessions she targets them, helping me understand the proper movements and work on ways to improve and get stronger.  

I'm proud to say that on the days I struggle to get out of bed now it's because of the workouts I have planned not because of back pain!  Thanks to Jocelyne I am able to enjoy the simple things in life again and I've also completed two triathlons!  I would highly recommend trying classes at The Cornerstone Pilates.  I look forward to seeing you there!

"I love the way I feel after doing Pilates..."

My life extender-it is important now as we are living longer, that we keep our bodies in optimal health to help us age gracefully and painlessly. There are many forms of exercise that can be damaging to the tissue in our bodies that create scar tissue. Pilates is a form of exercise that does not build up this damage. I love the way that I feel after doing Pilates. My core is strong, tight and centered. This gives me a sense of well-being. I feel positive and strong with a mental agility that allows me to hyper focus. Life is to be full and abundant and when we feel good, we attract more good. Mind, body and soul. "I experienced a significant decrease in some pain.."

The Cornerstone Pilates is an amazing therapeutic workout! While strengthening my core and body I experienced a significant decrease in some pain and discomfort from my arthritis. Jocelyne is a gentle and attentive teacher who is able to accommodate my needs with her expertise. I really didn't know that something so gentle would have such amazing lasting benefits. Fitness shouldn't hurt! :) No pain and all gain. Thanks Jocelyne!

"I feel myself getting stronger..."

I was told by my Doctor and Chiro that I should do Pilates, as I had developed very painful SI joint problems, and I had to strengthen my core, etc.    I had a preconceived notion of what Pilates was...not my style...but decided I would give it a try, what could it hurt?  I had previously met Jocelyne, and liked her demeanor and personality.  Well, here goes nothing!   To my pleasant surprise....I love it!  I find Pilates so beneficial and I feel myself getting stronger, but not only that, Pilates wouldn’t be what it is if it weren’t for Jocelyne.  Her extensive skill and knowledge puts you in a comfort zone.  She modifies the moves and exercises for your specific needs, if need be.  Who would think that a generally gently exercise can work those muscles of ours so strongly!  I leave the class energized and feeling all around good!  I can’t extol enough Jocelyne’s exceptional teaching method of Pilates as well as her contagious smile and enthusiasm.

I had been working out for years but was looking for something to step up my fitness level. I had no idea that Pilates would be the answer! The Cornerstone Pilates not only strengthened my core, but the varied Pilates workouts (on the reformer, on the mat, spring board) have helped strengthen as well as tone my upper body as well as legs and back.
